Imperial Japan, Nazi Germany, and Italy: Axis Pin

Yesterday I showed an Anti-Comintern Pact badge from 1936, and today I’ll introduce a later Tripartite Pact badge. The latter pact was signed in 1940, so this badge dates from 1940-45.

All three flags of the Axis powers are here, superimposed on a globe. Germany and Korea (part of the Japanese empire) are colored pink, while Italy is white–but I think the pink faded into white here. Japan is uncolored. Inscribed ‘Defend Together.’

A simple pinback reverse suggests that this was a giveaway, a children’s pin, or something meant to be worn for a single occasion.
