Imperial Japan Middle School Sharpshooting Badge 2

The second of three middle school sharpshooting badges I’d like to introduce.

Here is the obverse:

obverse

obverse

Fantastic design! A militant hawk (or kite) is perched on a row of bullets. Superimposed on the latter is a kanji meaning ‘Prize’ or ‘Award.’ The hawk and suspension device are painted brown, while the bullets and kanji are silver.

The back:

reverse

The entire reverse is painted brown. Lots of kanji on this one. The translation is ‘1933, Hyogo Prefecture, Middle School Championship Sharpshooting Tournament, Held at [??A place name I cannot read] Sharpshooting Range, Sponsored by Kobe Industrial University Sharpshooting Club.’

These badges were probably awarded to the students who placed in the competition; however, it is possible that this badge was reserved for the 1st place winner.
